2012 ended in the best way I could of imagined. My Christmas day was very chill in itself, but my gifts were perfect and the weeks following were even better. My thoughtful Dad bought me some books (political books nonetheless) and a new planner (which I had asked for. The planner is simple, but when I saw it I got super excited. Not many people get as excited about planners as I do. Its tan and has lots of different places to write things down. I like earthy colors. Tan especially. Some of my other favorites were a journal from my good friend Abby, numerous coffee gift cards,a kindle, and a new suit case for traveling.Although all these gifts were lovely I found my favorite gifts this Christmas happened to be people. I was lucky enough to have two of my friends visit during Christmas and New years. Both of these friends were on military leave so it's always hit or miss whether you get the chance to see them or not. After the Christmas festivities had finished I took some time for myself and went to coffee at one of my favorite coffee spots in Bangor, Giacomos. I had my new journal, some good coffee, and it was snowing outside. It presented perfect conditions for unwinding.
One very unorganized day me and my good friend Cassidy (she was one who visited on military leave) went and got Chinese. It was one of those days where nothing went right. People we were supposed to meet never showed up and things were happening late. We made the best of it though. During conversation we started to talk about our friendship and each other. We talked about how we were contradictions in some ways and our similarities. Then we got our fortune cookies. Mine made perfect sense and therefore became my favorite moment of the day. My fortune said, 'What is a friend: A single soul dwelling in two bodies'. How fitting.
